December 5, 2023 – Press Release #013-2023 (Update to 012-2023)

January 3, 2024

On December 5, 2023, the Woodstock Police issued a press release detailing an incident where
a student was approached by a dark-colored SUV, asking to use their phone. A very short time
later, the student saw the vehicle again, but on this occasion, heard someone yelling for help
from the back seat.

The investigation has revealed that the complainant, in fact, saw two different vehicles. In the
second encounter, four youths in a very similar vehicle were wrestling in the back, and one
began hitting the window while yelling for help. The witness thought that the vehicle that had
asked to borrow their phone was the same one from which they heard someone yelling for
help.

Police have completed this investigation and found that nothing of a criminal nature occurred.
We extend our gratitude to the public for their assistance and appreciate the students who
came forward, enabling police to resolve the matter.

Although there is no criminality, police are still interested in identifying the two adults who
asked the complainant for her phone in an effort to determine their motive for asking. Anyone
with information is asked to please contact the Woodstock Police Force at (506) 325-4601.
