February 25th, 2025
On Tuesday, February 25th, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., The Woodstock Police Force (WPF) assisted by the RCMP, responded to a 36-year-old male in crisis near the New Brunswick Community College (NBCC). The individual, who was armed with a knife, had stopped in the area where a large police presence was conducting a training exercise.
Despite the coincidental timing, WPF and RCMP officers were able to safely de-escalate the situation, and the male was apprehended without incident or injury.
The safety of all individuals involved, including the community, remains our top priority.
Thanks to the outstanding cooperation with the RCMP, this potentially dangerous situation was resolved peacefully.
After being safely taken into custody, the male was transported to a URVH for medical evaluation. He was later released from the hospital and subsequently placed in police custody on unrelated charges.
