Fraud Investigation Leads to Toronto Suspect
In July 2024, the Woodstock Police Force launched an investigation into a reported fraud after a local resident discovered a cheque had been fraudulently used to withdraw $21,500 from their bank account.
The case was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Section, where investigators determined that the cheque had been forged and cashed. A 28-year-old female from the Toronto area was identified as a result of the investigation.
The matter has since been transferred to the Toronto Police Service, which is continuing the investigation. Charges are anticipated, including:
- Fraud Over $5,000
- Forgery
- Uttering a Forged Document
The Woodstock Police Service reminds residents to regularly monitor their financial accounts and report any suspicious activity.
